Earth Washing
During a 5-day residency, Free Range, at Letheringham Lodge, Suffolk, Jane gathered samples of clay dug from the ground of the estate on a west-east axis. The ochre-coloured clay was used to create dorodango (earth balls) that became drawing materials for intuitive mark-making. The drawing process was recorded and then projected onto the medieval hunting lodge’s external walls, temporarily washing it in earth pigment.
