Change, Chance and Circumstance is a research collaboration with New York-based artist Felicity Faulkner in which Felicity and Jane examined coastal and environmental change around two east coast spits of land Orford Ness, Suffolk, UK and Montauk Point, Suffolk County, USA. Jane's travel to the USA was supported by a-n Artist Bursary.

The artists’ starting point was a shared interest to find out more about two Suffolk UK/USA locations that have geographical, historical, and environmental commonalities. They spent one week around Orford Ness and one week at Montauk Point. During this time they undertook a number of field observation and recordings of the natural environment of the two sites. They created two short films using digital imagery from Orfordness Lighthouse and Montauk Point Lighthouse. Both films were shown as part of Alive in the Universe in Aldeburgh Lookout, Suffolk, UK and Palazzo Pesaro Papafava during the Venice Biennale 2019.
