The Cabinet of Curiosities is about the curious things that we find, treasure and keep. These objects may be displayed proudly, or kept at the back of a drawer somewhere. They may be rare, or quite commonplace. They usually have a story behind them.

Jane developed The Cabinet of Curiosities as artist in residence at Darwin Green in north west Cambridge. She created a bright blue mobile caravan studio that toured to a variety of venues parking up at community centres, schools, colleges and churches. Over 500 people who live and work around the new Darwin Green area in north west Cambridge visited the bright blue touring studio in autumn 2014. There, they talked about their objects and were able to watch as their curiosities were recorded as a cyanotype, one of the oldest forms of photography. The result is an archive of cyanotypes of over 300 curious things with accompanying sound recordings.

The Cabinet of Curiosities was exhibited toured north west Cambridge again the following year, including at Anglia Ruskin University, Alison Richard Building at University of Cambridge, Cambridge Big Weekend, Parker’s Pieces, Impington College, National Institute of Agriculture Botany.
