SITE SPECIFIC INSTALLATIONS | REFLECTAGON

Reflectagon is a camera obscura that was built in response to Westonbirt Arboretum's planting and landscaping. On the outside, the arboretum is reflected in the mirrored walls of the octagonal shed. The viewer steps inside into the dark interior. If it is a sunny day, she will see a live moving image of the outside world projected onto a round tabletop. This work is inspired by the original garden design of the arboretum which was concerned with framing views and vistas throughout the seasons. It also uses technology that was popular at the time of the arboretum's development in the eighteenth century. Reflectagon was a temporary work commissioned by Westonbirt in 2004.
